Leaving on a Jet Plane

Well, Lindsay just left from Shreveport on her way to Europe. She's visiting Venice, Florence, Pisa, French Riviera, and Paris. She will be getting back the night of the day I leave for Panama City on the senior trip. [sarcasm]There's a bit of luck for you.[/sarcasm] It's gonna be tough, but I'll find something to do. So yeah, if anyone wants to hang out, let me know. It's two weeks apart, but it's also training for next year when I'm in BRthur and she's still here. Thanks to Apple's Tiger and Dashboard, I can track her flights and check the time and weather in each city she is visiting. I'm alright for now, but I imagine i'll start to miss her later tonight. Anyway, I'll stop here.

Thoughts and Dairy (not diary)

Wow. It was only Monday when I received the PowerBook in the post, and I couldn't be happier or more pleased with its performance. Within 15 minutes out of the box, I was cookin': ready to work and already online with the wireless network set up in my house. If you are in any kind of position to get an Apple, do so. The switch from Windows to Apple is rediculously easy; I already have forgotten how to properly work a PC. I keep using the wrong command keys for keyboard shortcuts and the like. Absolutely amazing

I hope to start and finish "Super-hero Hypotheses" sometime in the next couple of weeks. It's a bit of a film that was inspired by how grossly cheesy (dairy) and inspirational (irony) R. Kelly's hit "I Believe I Can Fly" is. Should be fun to make and watch.

Today I finished watching the entire series of "The Office" (the BBC version, not the American version, which I've heard is crap). This is one of the best series previously on television and now on DVD. It really captures the essence of Humans - how we work, how we talk, how we interact, what we need, what we fear, what we're doing on the weekends, etc. Do yourself a favor and find someone who has it, borrow it, watch it, and then return it. Because they'll probably want it back. Unless you're not the type who needs to see it before you buy it. In which case, just buy it. Unless you don't have the cash.

My brother gave me the fourth season of "Seinfeld" and True and False : Heresy and Common Sense for the Actor by David Mamet for graduation. Inside the Mamet book (on page 96-97 no less) was a list of "10 Suggestions for Your First Year of College." The list is fantastic, and I'll be sure to do every single item on it. I'm probably going to start on the book tonight.

Take off your shoes when you come into this house! I told you kids a million times not to track mud, dirt, blood, sewage, and whatever else you trek through in the front lawn onto my carpet! That's why it's out there in the first place; it don't belong in here. Now go wash them off with your tooth brushes or next time it'll be your tounge. Kids: why did I have to have them? Well, I didn't have them really; my wife did. But I still got to put up with them, right? Oh well. Such is the nature of Fate. It follows its own path, which is almost always the exact opposite from man's way of thinking. It picks us up when we think it'll get worse; when things are great it shoots us down into the ground. HEY! Shut the door when you leave!

I'm so ready to get down to Baton Rouge. The thought of starting over is infinitely appealing. Everything will be clean and ready freddy to go. On the other hand, I don't want to leave behind what I've got here. And I won't be "leaving" it; I'm visiting every month or so. Still, it's a bit unnerving.

And that's where I'll end.

Live from the Powerbook

Hoorah! This is the first post from the Powerbook. Just thought you'd want to know.

[EDIT] Man, I love this thing! If you are in any position to pick one up, do so now.

iafilmsupdates.blogspot.com

http://iafilmsupdates.blogspot.com

home of every little bitty update to the site design for i.a. films. Mainly for feedback purposes; I really have no idea what "looks good," so I need some people who have been around to let me know what "they think." click to find out more.

Test Page for i.a. films

Click the link for the test page for the i.a. films website. Needs a lot of cleanup and an actual design layout, but I think it's a nice start. Definitely needs more vertical elements so the eye is not bored to tears. Hay! Maybe this won't be so bad after all!

NB: None of the links on the thing really work...

7-10 Business Days

Ah, the weekend. Quite the functionable, little device.

Had the guys spend the night Friday Night just like old times: blanket mountain, video games, monkey bread, etc. Geez, we can trash a room. It was a blast; I'm glad we can still hang out like we used to do.

Saturday was D&D at John's house. That was great. I've already leveled up after an hour and a half of gameplay. After that Lindsay and I were to head to St. Mark's for Meet Me in St. Louis, but there was a seating problem and I was really tired. I didn't want to fall asleep during a performance. So, we headed back to her house and then to Evan's for 2MS/CMTV game night, which turned out to be M@#$ and KungFu Chaos night. I'd love to hang out with them again sometime.

BIG NEWS (because it refers to the title):
By the end of the month Apple will send me a 15" Powerbook G4, Office for Mac, and a HP Printer!! They decided to send it because Dad went on their website, filled out some information (something about a credit...card?), and pressed a couple of buttons; and now it's on its way here!! The internet is SOSOSOSO cool!! That's right, folks. In less than a month I won't have to deal with PCs or Windows but on occasion. You have no idea how exciting this is.

I've been working on the layout for the i.a. films website. I'm actually going to design it this time, not just put a black bg with white text. Okay, it'll still be in black and white, but it will look sleek.

I love Lindsay...a lot.

Video Blog

Video Blog
(First of Many, hopefully)

I apologise for the low volume; I'm tired and don't wish to speak very loudly. If it doesn't work on your computer, too bad. It works on mine; and I'm running Win98 on a 750 mHz processor, I believe. If you're doing worse than me, God bless you.

Good news not discussed on the vidblog: Dad may swing by the Apple Store in Dallas on his way back from Texas Saturday. Also to those who are in the know with regards to video cameras, I'm looking for a decently priced, decently presenting camera. Suggestions are welcome; but sales ads are not welcome. They are sales ads. I'd figure this was obvious, but you never know.

PS - If the link gives you an incomplete video file, that is my fault.

HAIL TO OUR MAGNET HIGH SCHOOL...

It's official...we're done. As a graduating senior in the year 2005 I have feelings of nothing but complete satisfaction and a blissful calm. We had an assembly that lasted three hours today; it was slightly interesting to see where everyone was going and what they were getting.

To my boys and girls going to Tech - Good luck, be careful and come visit (I'll do the same.)
To those of you going to LSU:BR - I'll see ya there. (Kemer, Hunter, Danny(Danner?), call me sometime. Let's confuse people. )

Lots of other stuff to talk about:
  • moviesaucefilmfest05 - Very successful, put on by the boys and girls at 2manshows.com. My film, EatRedMeat., showed very well; no one left in the middle. Lots of talent all around. Winners were: 3rd Place - "Smiley State" by Matthew Pope; 2nd place - "Hey, God" by Hunter and Evan; 1st place and Awesomesauce Award - Shakespeare: Back in Action by Evan. It'll be great to see what everyone does in years to come.
    PS-
Check out the animated Hanz from Danny Lachman's "The Story Tale".
  • "Star Wars" Caddo Magnet Players Drama Banquet - Extremely successful. Meg and I had the best joke awards evar! Lots of people getting what they deserved after so much hard work this year. Meg and I handed over the presidency to Sam and Amy respectively.
  • I START PLAYING D&D THIS WEEKEND! Yes, it sounds geeky. Yes, I am a geek. I have been waiting quite a while for this one, folks.
  • I guess there wasn't lots of other stuff to talk about.

I'm looking forward to senior breakfast and the graduation stuff. It'll be fun. That's all I have. Thanks.
