Special Delivery, Movie Tonight, Finder's Keepers

I can't wait! This weekend marks the one year anniversary of the officialness of Dylan Micah Nix and Lindsay Marie Gustafson! SO excited. She should be, too, if she knew what was coming.

I'm coming home on the 23rd, which is always good. Poor Mum and Dad. Both Lindsay and Justin have been able to see me during the three weeks I haven't been home, and Mum and Dad haven't. It'll be good to see them.

I'll report about my microphone mishaps later. No jinxing of the delivery, please.

I'm about to watch The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou as soon as I call my sweetie.

•I took a two-and-a-half hour nap just now with iTunes playing on shuffle and went through 44 songs, less than half of which I recall hearing. I really should get out and do something.

•Size matters. Look at Hot Wheels sales compared to Micro Machines sales.

Spies and Glass, film and me, school, etc.

Got an Idea in math 1100 this morning for a short film and finished it around 10 o'clock tonight. It's called Spies and Glass. I'm not going to post it or anything. In fact I plan on having no sort of collaboration as far as the producing of it goes. I can do it on my own! Yay! It's main purpose was for me to practice comedy and dialogue writing. I hope those goals are met. If not, it will still be fun to make.

Speaking of film things, I won't be able to use the wide-angle lens I bought from Hunter until I get a better editing program, since the free DeBarrelizer plug-in for iMovie that fixes the distortion of the image caused by the lens puts waves and ripples on the footage. It'll be alright, though. At least I have a wide-angle lens that won't be wasted in the future. This is just another case of me having to work with what I have. I'm so grateful to have what I already do. Things seem to be falling into place. I'm given the best deal on camera and equipment to start filming ever, ideas are pouring in my head, and (this just in) I may get to go to the Sundance Film Festival for half the cost of a ticket package and of food and souvenirs, which is just unheard of. I'm hoping these experiences will shed some light onto whether this is what I'm supposed to dedicate my life to. Not a bolt of lightning and God saying, "Go forth and make films!" Just a small nudge through or a closing of a door is what I'm talking about.

In other news, I dropped Latin 2053 in exchange for Honors 2012, which covers the 19th century's ideas and advancements, as best I can tell. I actually feel like I'm in school now. Thank God, a challenge.
Justin may be stopping in sometime this weekend, as he is going down with his friend Alison to pick up his car and her stuff from New Orleans. I'm hoping he'll enjoy Spies and Glass. He laughed when I was giving the general idea to him on the phone. I love my brother.

I sometimes worry that spending all my time in the dorm room is bad, but then I get out and drive around some and feel better. Still, I could be meeting people. I really need to stop over in the theatre dept. and get to know some actors. I really should take a theatre class next semester. Maybe a movement class would be good.

Well, it's early morning and I'm rambling. I'd rather these entries hold substance, so I'll stop here.

The Test Begins...

So thanks to the generosity of Hunter, I am buying his Canon ZR60 for half the price of one purchased elsewhere. I totaled up some figures today for equipment I'll need to start filming and it turns out that the cost of the camera, MiniDV tapes, and a microphone just about equals the typical cost of the camera. The other two items I need are pretty much taken care of. I found a tripod at my house and Hunter may be throwing in a wide-angle lens. I'll have to buy a lens if that one works on the new camera Hunter is buying with Danny and Kemer or if it isn't included with the cost of the camera. Still, this is a great deal for me.
