Back to Blog, Back to Spring, Back to Life

Let's try this thing again. I know at least one person still checks it (I hope).

Spring has sprung, my nose hates me. But the beauty is still there, even in the rainy day we had today. The thunderclaps chimed in as an extra rhythm section to the tunes I heard coming from Clifford Brown and Max Roach on my iPod. As a result of this rainy weather, I've decided to throw away my umbrella, or rather retire it. It's done very well, but it can no longer survive against harsh weather. Bad knee and all that. As is usual for Baton Rouge, the rain makes many pools and floods the streets quite easily. My left foot kept trying to go swimming without me - three times it dove straight into the biggest puddles it could find. My right foot was smart enough to leave it all alone, but it didn't go untouched by the splishings of its sinister sister. Oh well, it all comes out in the wash.

Washing clothes becomes very odd, now that I mention it, when you wait a long time to do it. I'm currently halfway through the washing stage of two simultaneous loads carrying nothing but towels. I'm glad the rainy weather has let up, though. I hate washing things when it's wet outside; my clothes get the idea that they're supposed to stay wet and do not dry completely. That can be annoying to say the least.

After a few changes of priority of focus, I think I'm on my way back to being something like who I was before college started. Not exactly who I was, because I cannot unlearn what I have learned, nor can I shrink where I have grown. But the hard work ethic is coming back, as is the desire to be creative and to create. I lost some of that along the way. I lost a lot of what makes me Me. I became someone else, and while I don't regret what I have done (it was enjoyable and I met many great people along the way who will always be with me, no matter what I choose to do) it became too important for such little weight that it carried in the grand picture.

"This is supposed to be personal, right? This — blog thing?"

Oops. Laundry's done.
